Increasing global antibiotic resistance in food animals requires immediate action

Washington, DC – Left unchecked, growing antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in food animals threatens not only animal health but ultimately the availability of animal protein, especially in low- and middle-income countries where demand for meat is increasing, according to a new study led by the Center for Disease Dynamics, Economics & Policy (CDDEP) and published in Science.
